207- Woody Head Back Beach

Back Beach Woody Head

Now me being the biggest nosey bum, and deserted beach finder extraordinaire in the world, in my adventurous travels exploring the unknown, over the last couple of weeks, I came across another jewel in the crown "Back Beach Woody Head"  Now this is one of those beaches, where global warming, or maybe it is the Carbon Tax, has affected the dedicated band of hearty soles, and for that reason, they have lost their swim wear....what is going on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yooooo Hoooooo Anybody There!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So on a fine, sunny, an incredibly stunning day (haven't seen to many of those lately) we invited Brad and Eva, and Geoff and Helen, to lay our claim to our bit of sand on Back Beach Woody Head.

Unfortunately Brad and Eva couldn't make it .................to far to drive from Victoria (he he!!!), so the four of us donned our Safari hats, slipped on the sun shades, covered the more important parts of the anatomy with extra sun screen, and trudged along the gruelling sands of time, to find our Utopia.

What Are You Doing Mister???

At the southern end of this magic spot, we set up our temporary camp, which is protected from the southerly wind and swell, being a fantastic area, to sun and swim. Not for the faint hearted however.

Put That Underwater Camera Away!!!!

After  several hours, we decided to head back to camp to venture forth again on Sunday.

As The Sun Sets Slowly On The Big Day At the Beach............

......................And Waking Again To Another Perfect Day

Hi Ho, Hi Ho.............It's Off To The Beach We Go.

Stay toooooooooooooned for Glenreagh I think!!!!!!!!!!!!

206 - More On iluka

Nothing like a quiet gathering over looking the Clarence River On Sunset

As we get into our third week, the weather finally is coming good, and we are, all very social little vegemites and enjoy a cleansing ale.  However Friday 14th I went for my usual beach walk and the seas were so huge I couldn't walk any where................bugger

Ride, Ride, Ride The Wild Surf

We also had a visit from Gary and Janelle Osborne, who we have known since our days in Mackay back in  the 80's. We have always kept in touch and although we saw them at Clareview on our way down the coast, they happen to be at Tweed Heads this week and just drove down to say gidday.

Janelle, The Bride and Me of course............part of my harem

Of course like all our gatherings, social little flutterbys we are, people are coming and going all the time. We said our goodbyes on Friday, to Pete and Debbie, didn't get a photo though. However on Saturday we all kissed, cuddled and cried again, when two more couples departed, being Ron, Margaret, Julie and Dave all from Lismore. Fantastic folks like Peter and Debbie to spend some time with, and no doubt will catch up again, somewhere in the great outdoors.

Ron, Margaret, Julie and Dave

We are slowly loosing our drinking buddies, however we still have Geoff and Helen from Darwin. They have been following our blog for 12 months or so, so it was great to get together.

How come all us Geriatric Gypsies  enjoy an ale or two at 4pm. A'h well have to have another round tonite to find out why (he he!!!)

Stay toooooooooooooooooned for more on Iluka, hopefully.

205 - Iluka NSW

The sun is shinning....quick............ time get some sun

Well after three weeks of wind, rain and absolutely testing conditions, we are at last experiencing a spell of reasonably fine weather.
If you haven’t guessed it, we are now at Iluka at the Riverside Tourist Park. We are nearing the end of the second week here, and have decided to stay another week. Main reason being we are just biding our time, as Eater is nearing, and we need to hide during this period.

So on the 21st March, we are booked into a retreat at Glenreagh, more on that down the track. Once there we will miss the madening crowds and teems of kidz that inundate the north coast of NSW . School holiday in April will be the next challenge.

Little Toot on its way to Yamba

This time last year we visited this park, so a lot of photos were posted on the blog then. However this time around it is reasonably quiet, quite social, and if you want to go over to the thriving metropolis of Yamba, a simple and relaxing trip on the ferry from Iluka, and for the two us only $14.00 return. It pays to be a pensioner sometimes.

And what does one do at 5pm daily............HAPPY HOUR OF COURSE!!!!

What have we been doing………….very little. There are some great walks along the Clarence River, plus I have found a great beach, where I can walk for ever. The bride doesn’t come………..however the beaches are still just awful, due to the floods and rough seas. One would like to think they will recover, but to mine, it is going to take a long, long time.

Win us some money honey!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So in the meantime, just relaxing, consuming to many ales, socialising to much……….a’h it’s tuff being trailer trash.

Next time Glenreagh, or maybe more on Iluka.

Stay tooooooooooooned

204 - What Is It With The Weather

The bride after four weeks of disgusting weather

(Beginning of whinge) Totally over mini cyclones, gale force winds that would blow a drovers’  dog off it’s chain, torrential rain, and the wet and soggy everything. The Val is soaked inside, due to a common design fault when it rains, the RetroLiner creaking continually to the blow of the wind, the bride is bored and keep on saying “feeeeeeeeeeeeerk this caravanning caper,  and I have enough of fighting with the elements.( End of whinge)

Basically since we left Camira end January, we have had only one week, the first week at Brunswick Heads that was reasonable. However, in saying that, a lot of the time was overcast, windy and generally unpleasant. So as I said at the end of the last post  “stand by for Brunswick 2”, well guess what,  for the second week we were just holed up in the RetroLiner, experiencing a mini cyclone, for nine days may I add, so an update would have been a waste of time.

The grandess at the Penguin exibit

We bit the bullet at the end of this miserable week, as we needed to go back to the Gold Coast,  to catch up with our son Micheal, his wife Haylee, plus the two grandess, Brodie and Shaylah. They had driven down from Cairns. So we packed up from Brunswick Heads in the continuing cyclonic conditions, and headed north to the Gold Coast, and guess what; we arrived in the same conditions we left Brunswick Heads. So we set up in the cyclonic conditions again……..OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your'n in the front Pop, so you can get wet.

For the week we were there, total disaster weather wise. We did catch up with the kidz for the odd BBQ, a day at Sea World (looking tired these days) and was shouted a buffet dinner at Sea World Nara Resort.....Thanks Mike and Hayley

Found this big mumma swimming in the flooded caravan park
We are now at the Iluka Riverside Tourist Park, and you know what, it is still pissing down with rain and blowing a feeeeerk’n gale. OVER IT BIG TIME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
