202 - Ex Tropical Cyclone Oswald

Missed the Val "by that much."

Not much to say about this event that hasn't been covered via the media, open forums and so on.  Yep being in tropics for many a year on and off I would call the blow that came through here (Camira) was as good as a cat. 1 cyclone.

We didn't suffer any flooding, as we are up very high, so that was not an issue, however the area did suffer quite substantial tree damage and power loss.

Without any power for 24 hours it was just like free camping. Turned on the Genny, the gas and the inverter and nothing new here.

All back to normal for suburbia, however what this blow did was delay our departure a week. Hence we will hit the frog and toad on Tooooosday 5th of Feb, and head just over the border.

The RetroLiner all tucked up in suburbia

Our house mates and the bride, sporting her designer gum boots

All going well with our departure on Toooosday, we will head to possibly Pottsville on the northern NSW coast. We have been at Camira now for two and a half months and I am sure our house mates will be glad to see the back of us, especially me as I am "a pain in the arse" couped up for to long.

We would have been on our way just after Christmas, however school holidays, and of course the blow of last week has continually delayed us.

However the north coast of NSW is still not in the best of shape either, so where the next post comes from who knows!!!!!!

Stay toooned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Hi you 2, as I write this you are probably already on the road and somewhere in north newsouth. Our plans have been put back 4 days so probably will leave Guyra about 20th Feb and head down to the coast and head north to Forster. After that??? down the coast of newsouth to Narooma and then head back up again on our way to Brizzy for a 4 month house sit. Maybe, just maybe, we can catch with you. Cheers
